Luxury Château Wedding in France
A château wedding in France is much more than a beautiful setting. It is the opportunity to bring your family and friends together in an extraordinary place and create an entire celebration around French elegance, history and art de vivre.
From an intimate ceremony in a château garden to an elegant destination wedding unfolding over several days, CTH Events Paris creates bespoke celebrations for couples travelling to France from around the world.
Every château wedding we plan is entirely personalised. There are no predefined packages or identical celebrations. We begin with your story, your vision, your guests and your priorities, then build the experience around you.
The Experience of a French Château Wedding
France is home to an extraordinary collection of historic estates, from romantic countryside properties near Paris to magnificent residences in the Loire Valley, Champagne, Normandy, Provence and other regions of France.
A château offers something particularly special for a destination wedding: privacy, history, beautiful architecture and the possibility of bringing several moments of the celebration together in one exceptional setting.
Your ceremony might take place in the gardens, followed by cocktails overlooking the estate, an elegant dinner inside a historic salon or beneath a beautifully designed structure, and dancing late into the evening.
For multi-day celebrations, the experience can begin with a welcome dinner and continue through the wedding day to a relaxed farewell brunch the following morning.
The château becomes more than your wedding venue. It becomes the setting for an entire chapter of your story in France.
Finding the Right Château for Your Wedding
Not every beautiful château is the right wedding venue.
Before recommending a property, we consider much more than its architecture. Guest capacity, accommodation, accessibility, catering facilities, supplier restrictions, music limitations, furniture, technical requirements and an elegant Plan B are all essential.
We also consider how the property will work over the entire wedding experience. Where will your guests arrive? Where will the ceremony take place? Can cocktails continue comfortably if the weather changes? Is there a suitable space for dinner and dancing? Where will your guests stay, and how will they return safely after the celebration?
These practical details may not appear in beautiful photographs, but they often determine whether a destination wedding feels effortless or complicated.
From a Wedding Day to a Wedding Weekend
For international couples, we often recommend thinking beyond a single wedding day.
When guests travel from different countries to celebrate with you in France, the occasion becomes an opportunity to create a complete destination experience.
A château wedding weekend might begin with an informal welcome evening, allowing guests to meet and enjoy their first taste of France. The following day becomes the main celebration, with the ceremony, cocktail reception, dinner and dancing. A farewell brunch can then bring everyone together once more before departure.
Depending on the property and your vision, we can also incorporate wine or Champagne experiences, local gastronomy, excursions and other moments that introduce your guests to the region.
The objective is not simply to organise more events, but to create a natural rhythm that allows everyone to experience France together.
Bespoke Wedding Design
A historic château already has a strong personality. Good wedding design should enhance that character rather than compete with it.
We develop the aesthetic direction of each celebration according to the architecture of the property, the season and the couple’s personal style. Floral design, lighting, furniture, table settings, stationery and every decorative element are considered as part of one coherent visual story.
Whether your vision is timeless and understated, romantic and floral, contemporary or inspired by French heritage, the objective remains the same: to create a wedding that belongs naturally within its surroundings while still feeling entirely yours.
Planning a Château Wedding from Abroad
Planning a destination wedding from another country requires trusted local knowledge.
CTH Events Paris accompanies international couples throughout the process, from venue selection and budget development to supplier sourcing, design, logistics and wedding-day production.
We coordinate directly with the château and the different professionals involved in your celebration, manage timelines and logistics, and anticipate the practical details that can be difficult to handle from abroad.
By the time you arrive in France, the objective is for you to feel like guests at your own celebration rather than event managers.

A Personal Note from Inga
After more than thirteen years of planning weddings in France, château weddings remain particularly special to me.
Behind the beauty of these properties there is always an enormous amount of preparation. Historic buildings were not originally designed for modern events, and every château has its own rules, possibilities and challenges. Understanding these details is part of what makes my work so interesting.
I have also learned that destination wedding planning is built on trust. Some couples begin working with me more than a year before I finally see them arrive in France. During that time, we make hundreds of decisions together.
And sometimes the unexpected happens. One of the weddings particularly close to my heart was originally planned for 2020. The pandemic forced my clients, Kyulee and Brandon, to postpone their destination wedding for two years. We had to reorganise plans, communicate continuously with suppliers and simply keep moving forward until their celebration could finally happen.
Seeing them eventually celebrate their wedding in France was an emotional reminder of something I strongly believe: a wedding is not simply a beautiful day we produce. It is a relationship of trust that we build with our couples along the way.

Symbolic Château Wedding Ceremonies in France
For many international couples, a symbolic ceremony is the perfect way to celebrate their marriage in a French château.
A symbolic ceremony gives you complete freedom to create a celebration that reflects your relationship, personality, culture and traditions. It can take place in the château gardens, beneath centuries-old trees, on a terrace overlooking the estate or inside one of the property’s historic salons.
The ceremony can be conducted in English, French or several languages and can include personalised vows, readings, live music and meaningful cultural or family traditions.
For multicultural weddings, we can also work with the couple to integrate traditions from both families into one coherent ceremony.
A symbolic ceremony does not have legal status in France. International couples will generally complete the legal marriage formalities separately and celebrate their personal ceremony at the château.
This distinction gives couples considerable creative freedom and allows the ceremony in France to focus entirely on their story and the experience they want to share with their guests.
Frequently Asked Questions About Château Weddings in France
How much does a château wedding in France cost?
There is no single price for a château wedding in France. The overall budget depends on the venue, number of guests, duration of the celebration, accommodation, catering, design, entertainment, technical production and level of service.
It is important not to consider the château rental fee in isolation. A property with a lower rental price may require significant additional rentals and infrastructure, while another château may already include accommodation, furniture or other services.
We therefore evaluate the complete wedding budget before recommending a venue.
How far in advance should we book a French château?
For sought-after châteaux and popular dates, we recommend beginning your search approximately 12 to 18 months in advance. For large destination weddings, multi-day celebrations or highly exclusive properties, starting earlier can provide greater choice.
Weddings can also be organised within shorter timelines when couples have flexibility regarding their date and location.
Can our guests stay at the château?
It depends on the property. Some French châteaux offer extensive accommodation, while others have only a few bedrooms or operate exclusively as event venues.
When the château cannot accommodate everyone, we identify suitable hotels nearby and organise guest transportation when required.
Can we have our ceremony outdoors?
Yes, many château weddings feature outdoor ceremonies in gardens, courtyards or other areas of the estate.
However, we always recommend planning an elegant indoor alternative from the beginning. Weather in France cannot be guaranteed, even during summer, and the Plan B should feel just as considered as the original ceremony setting.
Can we bring our own caterer and wedding suppliers?
This depends entirely on the château. Some venues allow couples to select their own professionals, others work with preferred suppliers, and certain properties impose specific caterers or partners.
Supplier conditions should therefore be checked before signing the venue contract, particularly when creative freedom or a specific type of cuisine is important to your wedding.
Can we organise a multi-day wedding at a French château?
Absolutely. A château is particularly well suited to a destination wedding weekend.
Depending on the venue, your celebration can include a welcome dinner, wedding ceremony and reception, after-party and farewell brunch. Additional experiences can also be organised around the region for guests travelling to France.
Can you organise multicultural weddings in French châteaux?
Yes. CTH Events Paris works with international couples and can incorporate different cultural, religious and family traditions into the celebration.
The objective is not simply to place several traditions next to each other, but to create a wedding where they flow naturally together and feel meaningful to both families.
Do you organise château weddings outside Paris?
Yes. We plan destination weddings throughout France, including the Loire Valley, Champagne, Normandy, Provence, the French Riviera and other regions.
The choice of region depends on the type of experience you want to create, your guests’ travel arrangements and the style of venue you are looking for.
Do we need a wedding planner for a château wedding in France?
It is possible to organise a wedding independently, but destination château weddings often involve considerably more logistics than couples initially expect.
Venue coordination, international communication, catering, rentals, transportation, accommodation, technical production, suppliers, installation and dismantling all need to work together.
A local wedding planner provides one central point of coordination and can anticipate many of these issues before they become problems.
Can CTH Events Paris help us find the château?
Yes. Venue research can be part of our bespoke wedding planning service.
We first discuss your guest count, overall budget, preferred region, accommodation requirements and vision before identifying properties that genuinely suit your celebration.
Our objective is not to send you the longest possible list of châteaux, but to help you find the right venue for your wedding.
